The Colorado Party
The Colorado Party was established by Bernardino Caballero in 1874. It was a political party created to run against the liberal party. The Colorado Party is similar to the politic Republican party. The Colorados dominated politics between the years 1876 and 1904. After 1904 the liberal party took over Paraguay. Then, in 1946, the Colorado party regained its popularity during the rule of Higinio Morinigo, the Paraguayan president. From 1947 to 1962, the Colorado Party dominated and was the only legal political party.The headquarters of The Colorado Party is in Paraguay’s capitol, Asunción.
